Privacy and cookies
This notice explains the device storage and service monitoring used in the Ask Ed admin portal.
The admin portal is for authorised school staff only. It does not use a registration flow, and signing in does not create a separate contract or terms acceptance step.
Necessary sign-in and security storage
Ask Ed uses a necessary session cookie to sign you in, protect authenticated requests, and end your session securely when you sign out.
- Secure session cookies are limited to authentication and session handling.
- CSRF protection is used on login and other forms to reduce the risk of forged requests.
Local and session storage on your device
The admin interface also stores a small amount of information in your browser to preserve interface state.
- Theme preference may be stored in local storage so the interface can remember light, dark, or system mode.
- Some admin screens store temporary table or workflow state in session storage or local storage to improve usability.
Operational monitoring
Ask Ed uses Cronitor Real User Monitoring to detect errors, measure performance, and diagnose service issues in the admin portal and login experience.
- This monitoring is used for operations, reliability, and incident response rather than advertising.
- Monitoring and service diagnostics are used to keep the admin portal available, investigate failures, and support incident response.
Optional support tooling
Some deployments may also enable Intercom Messenger for logged-in admins.
- When enabled, Intercom can store support-related identifiers on your device and use your admin account identity to provide authenticated messaging.
- If your organisation enables Intercom, it should cover that use in its privacy and cookie documentation and apply any additional consent controls it requires.
